In the 1730s, many composers tried their luck in London, where many other treasures were in preparation: Geminiani revolutionised instrumental writing with his famous treatise on interpretation and presented an amazing version of La Folia; his pupil Avison orchestrated concertos by Scarlatti, and Porpora ventured away from opera to rediscover the vocality of the cello with one of the most beautiful concertos of that period. Ophélie Gaillard and Pulcinella treat us to a frenzied and poetic night in London. They meet Geminiani, Hasse, Scottish composer James Oswald and virtuoso cellist Giovanni Battista Cirri. Guest artists Sandrine Piau and Lucile Richardot take on magnificent vocal pieces by Geminiani and Handel – Faustina Bordoni and Francesca Cuzzoni would have been seriously envious, that’s for sure!

Dans les années 1730, nombre de compositeurs tentent l'aventure à Londres, qui voit naître bien des trésors : Geminiani révolutionne l’écriture instrumentale avec son traité d’interprétation et signe une Folia ébouriffante ; son élève Avison orchestre les concertos de Scarlatti ; et le génial Porpora fait quelques détours loin de l'opéra pour retrouver la vocalité du violoncelle avec l’un des plus beaux concertos de la période... Ophélie Gaillard retrouve Pulcinella dans une nocturne londonienne poétique et endiablée. Elle y rencontre Geminiani, Hasse, le compositeur écossais James Oswald ou encore le grand virtuose du violoncelle Giovanni Battista Cirri. S’invitent, pour sublimer les magnifiques pages de Geminiani et Haendel, les voix de Sandrine Piau et de Lucile Richardot, auxquelles, parions-le, La Bordoni ou La Cuzzoni auraient eu des choses à envier…
